How to Put Citation Metrics on Your iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Choose a source-specific metric, place a widget, and keep the number useful without turning it into a distraction.

A citation widget works best as a quiet status view, not a scoreboard. The useful setup answers one question at a glance, such as whether a Google Scholar total changed since the last deliberate check.

A practical workflow

1. Pick one source and one purpose

Choose the provider your institution or workflow already uses. Do not place totals from different databases side by side and assume the larger one is more accurate.

2. Add the widget where it helps

Install Citatum, connect a public profile, then use the system widget gallery on iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Select the provider and supported metric in the widget configuration.

3. Keep refreshes intentional

Public research services update on different schedules. Treat the widget as the latest observation Citatum has, then open the source when a change needs verification.

What to keep in context

Citatum keeps provider-specific metrics separate. The free release includes selected widgets, while Citatum Pro adds the full widget collection and deeper history.
